# Account-wide campaign defaults

> Set the days your account sends on and the two waiting periods that stop customers being messaged too often, and understand how they interact with each campaign's own settings.

**Settings → Campaigns** holds three settings that apply across your whole account, no matter how many campaigns you run. Two of them are your main protection against over-messaging a customer. Click **Save Changes** when you are done.

If the fields are greyed out and there is no **Save Changes** button, your Liftify user can view this page but not change it.

## Touchpoints

*"Customer touchpoints will be sent on the following days of the week"*

A checkbox for each day, Monday through Sunday. At least one day must stay ticked — Liftify refuses to save with the message **"At least one touchpoint day must be selected"**.

These days are the starting point for new campaigns, not a hard ceiling on existing ones:

* When a campaign is created, its **Sending Days** are copied from what is ticked here.
* After that, the campaign has its own copy. Changing the days here does **not** change the days on a campaign that already exists — you change those on the campaign's **Settings** step.

So think of this as "the days a new campaign should start out with."

## Exclusion Time

*"Customers will be excluded from campaigns if they have received one within this timeframe"*

**Number of Days**. This is the widest of the three waiting periods: for this many days after a customer received *any* campaign, they are held back from entering *any* campaign.

Set it to 0 to switch this check off entirely.

## Campaign Type Exclusion Time

*"Customers will be excluded from campaigns of the same type if they have received one within this timeframe"*

**Number of Days**. Narrower: it only holds a customer back from campaigns of the *same type* as one they recently received. A customer who just went through a review campaign can still enter a promotional one, as long as the wider **Exclusion Time** allows it.

Set it to 0 to switch this check off.

## How the three waiting periods stack up

There is a third waiting period that is not on this page: **Campaign Exclusion Time (days)** on each campaign's **Settings** step, described there as *"Days before customer can re-enter this campaign."*

When a customer is about to be pulled into a campaign, Liftify checks all three, in this order:

1. **This campaign** — has this customer had *this* campaign within its **Campaign Exclusion Time (days)**?
2. **This campaign type** — have they had a campaign of the same type within **Campaign Type Exclusion Time**?
3. **Any campaign** — have they had *any* campaign within **Exclusion Time**?

If any one of the three says yes, the customer is not enrolled. They are not queued up for later — the campaign simply passes over them this time.

<Note>
  A window set to 0 is off, not "block everything". Zero means that level does no checking at all.
</Note>

<Tip>
  Because the account-wide **Exclusion Time** is checked for every campaign, it is the setting to reach for when customers are getting too many messages overall. Lengthening one campaign's own exclusion only affects that campaign.
</Tip>

### When the waiting periods apply — and when they don't

They apply when a customer is pulled in automatically by an entry rule, and when you use the **Enroll** bulk action from the contacts list. That is why the bulk enroll confirmation warns: *"Contacts already in a campaign or messaged recently may be skipped."*

They do **not** apply when you enroll one contact by hand — the **Enroll in Campaign** button on a contact's page, or the enroll checkbox in the **Add contact** window. Liftify treats that as an explicit decision and lets it through. That single enrollment can still be blocked for other reasons: the contact is already in that campaign, the campaign has **Prevent Campaign Collision** switched on and they are in another one, or they are unsubscribed.
