Liftify can draft a reply to a review for you, and — if you want — post that draft to Google automatically without anyone reviewing it first. This article is for owners and managers who want faster review responses and who decide how much of that should happen on its own. Read it before you turn on automatic posting, because the star-rating filter is what keeps your worst reviews from being answered by a robot. AI drafting is available to every account by default. If you ever see “AI responses are disabled for this account”, it has been switched off deliberately for your account — contact Liftify support to have it turned back on.

Use an AI draft on a single review

When Liftify has already drafted a reply, the review card shows a suggestion box headed “This is an AI-generated suggestion. Review and edit before sending.”
  1. Go to Reviews in the left sidebar and find the review.
  2. Read the suggested reply, then choose one of the buttons on the suggestion box:
    • Send — posts the suggestion exactly as written.
    • Edit — opens the reply box with the suggested text filled in so you can change it before sending.
    • Regenerate — asks the AI for a different draft. The button reads Generating… while it works.
    • Dismiss — hides the suggestion and puts the normal Reply button back.
  3. If you dismissed a suggestion and want it back, click View dismissed AI suggestion next to the Reply button.
You can also ask for a draft at any time while writing a reply yourself: click Reply, then click the AI reply icon at the top-right of the reply box. The drafted text appears in the box in blue with the note “Reply generated by AI”. As soon as you start typing over it, the note disappears and it counts as your own wording. Replies that were sent exactly as the AI wrote them are tagged AI generated on the posted reply, so you can tell later which responses were hand-written.

Turn on automatic posting

Automatic posting sends the AI draft to Google on its own, with no one approving it first. It applies to Google reviews only — Facebook replies always wait for a person.
  1. Click Reviews in the left sidebar, then AI Prompts in the sub-navigation.
  2. Under Auto-Post AI Responses, tick Automatically post AI responses to reviews.
  3. Under Auto-Post Rating Filter, tick each star rating that should be answered automatically. The rating boxes only become available once auto-posting is on.
  4. Click Save Changes. You will see the confirmation “Review AI settings updated.”
Most businesses tick only 4 star and 5 star here, so praise gets answered immediately while anything critical waits for a human.

What the rating filter actually does

  • The filter only controls which reviews get posted automatically. As the page says: “AI suggestions are still generated for all ratings — this filter only controls which ones get auto-posted. Reviews outside the filter wait for manual approval.” A 1-star review still gets a draft waiting for you; it just will not be sent on its own.
  • Ratings are matched to the nearest whole star, rounding half upward. A 4.6-star review counts as a 5-star review for this filter; a 4.4-star review counts as 4-star.
  • A review with no rating at all is never posted automatically, no matter what you tick.
  • If you tick nothing, nothing is posted automatically — even with auto-posting switched on.
  • Automatic posting is skipped for any review that already has a reply, so it will never overwrite an answer you wrote.

Set different rules for one location

Account settings apply everywhere by default, and any location can override them.
  1. Click Locations in the left sidebar and open the location, then click Edit location (or Edit on the location’s card).
  2. Open the AI Review Responses tab.
  3. Under Automatically respond to reviews, tick Enable auto-respond to post AI-generated responses to Google for this location without manual approval.
  4. Under Auto-respond only to these ratings, tick the star ratings this location should answer automatically.
  5. Click Save Changes. You will see “Location updated successfully.”
Each card shows where its current value comes from: Inheriting from account: Enabled / Inheriting from account: Disabled and Inheriting from account: 4, 5 stars when the location is following the account setting, or Location override once you have set something different here. If the location’s Google Business Profile is not connected, the auto-respond controls are greyed out and the page shows “Requires Google Business Profile integration”. Connect the location’s Google listing first.

Tune the wording the AI uses

The Response Prompt is the instruction Liftify sends to the AI every time it drafts a review reply. This is where you set the tone, the sign-off, and anything the AI should always or never say.
  1. Go to ReviewsAI Prompts.
  2. Edit the text in Response Prompt. It is described on the page as “The prompt template sent to the AI when generating review responses.”
  3. Use merge tags to pull in details of the review being answered — for example {{location_name}}, {{review_rating}}, and {{review_comment}}. Click the merge tag icon at the bottom-right of the box (Insert merge tag) to browse the full list, with a Search merge tags… box.
  4. Click Save Changes.
Practical things to put in the prompt: how you want to be addressed, whether to use the reviewer’s first name, whether to invite unhappy customers to call a specific number, and how long replies should be.

A different prompt for one location

On the location’s AI Review Responses tab, the Response prompt card holds a per-location version — “Guidance the AI uses when drafting responses for this location.” The badge reads Inheriting from account template until you type something, then Location override. To go back to the account wording, clear the box: “Clear this field to revert to the account prompt.”

Troubleshooting

“AI responses are disabled for this account.” AI drafting has been switched off for your account. Contact Liftify support to have it turned back on. “Failed to generate AI suggestion.” The draft could not be produced this time. Try Regenerate, or click the AI reply icon again in the reply box. If it keeps failing, write the reply by hand and let support know. Auto-posting is on but a review was not answered automatically. Check each of these in turn: the review’s rating is ticked in the rating filter (remember the rounding); the review has a rating at all; the review is a Google review; the location’s Google listing is connected; and the review does not already have a reply. Any one of those stops the automatic post — the draft still waits on the review for you to send. You cannot see the AI Prompts page or the settings are greyed out. Editing AI response settings is a separate permission. If the fields are read-only, or AI Prompts does not appear under Reviews, ask whoever manages your Liftify users to grant your role the AI response settings permission.
